讲座摘要： This study examines how direct alliance ties and indirect alliance ties interactively affect firm innovation and how such effect varies across different similarities of alliance types and ego network density. The longtitudal data from the US Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industry confirmed our research hypotheses and show that direct ties and indirect ties have varied interactive effects on innovation in different conditions of similarity of alliance types and ego network density. The results highlight the importance of understanding the properties of ties and the ego network structure underlying firm innovation.
