讲座摘要：In this study, we investigated the potential effect of grandparenting on episodic memory, which is a critical aspect of cognitive functioning. Specifically, we focused on grandparents from rural China. One of the challenges in this study is how to properly address the endogeneity issue, as grandparents who provided childcare could be different from other grandparents in observable and unobservable ways. In order to reduce the interruption of endogeneity, three different strategies, namely lagged effect approach, fixed effect approach and instrumental variable approach have been employed. The results as well as pros and cons for each strategy will be presented in the workshop.
